2010 November 2010 - Rose's poem "King of the Moment" placed as 1st Honorable Mention in the South Dakota State Poetry Society's annual contest. Rose's poem "Detour These Dangers" placed 2nd in the PST November monthly contest. October 2010 - Rose's poetry placed eleven times at the PST 53rd Annual Mid-South Poetry Festival. "No Place" was deemed 3rd place by one judge and 2nd place by another (this was a double judged contest). "Indian Appelations" placed 3rd in the Reflection contest. "Grabawil" placed 3rd in the Jaberwocky parody contest. "Snow Angels" placed 3rd for rhymed couplets. Another judge presented Rose with a Merit award for "Adam and Atom." A 2nd place was awarded for "Free Dance." A pirouette "Warning Signs" placed 3rd. A free verse poem "Baggage" placed 2nd, and "Hooked on Books" placed 3rd. Rose is very proud of the PST-NE chapter. Rose also sponsored and judged an ode contest for the Mid-South Festival. It was a great learning experience for her. September 2010 - Rose (with Angela Logsdon) co-sponsored/judged a PST monthly contest as co-poet laureate's. The theme was Ars Poetica. May 2010 - Rose sponsored the Poetry Society of TN's (PST) monthly contest for a poem about a family member. She chose Gretchen McCroskey, professor at NE State Community College to judge. April 2010 - Rose won first place in Poetry Society of TN's (PST) monthly contest for her senyru. March 2010 - Rose won third place in Poetry Society of TN's (PST) monthly contest for her poem "Ups and Downs". Jeanine Mah sponsored the contest theme "The Homeless" in free verse 40 lines maximum. February 2010 - Rose was honored to win first place in the February PST monthly contest for her poem "Gravitational Pull". The contest was sponsored by Russell Strauss with the theme "Stars" any form, 30 maximum lines. This poem will be published in the PST's annual anthology of winners. 2009 - Rose won 2nd place in the Poetry Society of TN's (PST) December monthly contest for her poem "Away from Home in Iraq". The contest theme was The Holiday Season - Any rhymed and metered form, 30 lines maximum length. December 2009 Rose was pleased to see two of her haiku poems accepted for publication in Grandmother Earth Volume XVI 2010 Visit the Grandmother Earth website for information about their poetry contest as well as the Life Press contest.
October 2009 Rose brought home prize money for two 3rd places and one HM in the Poetry Society of Tennessee's (PST's) Mid-South Poetry Festival in Memphis, TN.
September 2009 Rose placed third in the Poetry Society of Tennessee's (PST's) monthly contest for a Korean Sijo "Rain Pounded My Pink Petunias"
June 2009 Honorable Mention in the National Federation of State Poetry Societies (NFSPS) 2009 Annual Contest for "Ode to a Pomegranate"
June 2009 A third place poetry winner in the Appalachian Writers Symposium at SW Virginia Community College in Richlands, VA for "Canning Time".
May 2009 Rose won 3rd Place in the Poetry Society of Tennessee's (PST's) monthly contest - for "World Stage".
