For 2010-11 Rose was selected as co-poet laureate (with Angela Logsdon) for the Poetry Society of Tennessee. Rose was a featured panelist at the Appalachian Writers Symposium in Richlands, VA - in June. She spoke on writers' groups and networking. August through December 2010 - Rose attended a Creative Writing class at Northeast State Community College. The class focused on creative nonfiction (essay), poetry (any form) and fiction (short story). The class was taught by Gretchen McCroskey a published poet. In October, Rose attended the annual Mid-South Poetry Festival in Memphis, TN. She was thrilled to hear them honor poetry awards for seven members of her newly formed poetry society - northeast branch. She also was honored to have her haiku "rose petals wind surf. . ." selected for a future publication in the Grandmother Earth anthology. Rose and other members of PST-NE read poetry from the chapter's first anthology "Spiritual Reflections," at the Appalachain Christian Vilalge. It was well received by the residents. The activities director wants a return engagement in February 2011. In November, Rose was asked to co-present a program with John Jenkins to the Lost State Writers Guild in Bristol, TN. The program was entitled "Nitty Gritty" and involved a short talk on what motivates us to write and how do we actually sit down and do it? This acknowledged that writing is a lonely task and asked where do we get the structure and optimism needed to end up with a satisfactory product? Rose also learned in November that her poem "King of the Moment" as honored as first honorable mention at the South Dakota State Poetry Society (SDSPS) annual contest. PST's November Monthly theme was danger. Rose's poem "Detour these Dangers" earned 2nd place. December - Rose and members of her poetry society (PST-NE) conducted a reading at the Johnson City Country Club for the Newcomers Club luncheon. The audience enjoyed the humorous and holiday poetry selections.

Throughout the year, Rose will be submitting for contests and publications, attending several Tri-Cities writers' guild meetings and critique groups. The schedule for writing meetings and events is listed on the monthly Write Time! calendar. Occasionally, meeting times and locations are changed due to weather or other scheduling concerns.
